The story we just told might be about someone who suffers from binge eating disorder, also known as “binge eating disorder.” Every day more and more people suffer from this disorder, but it is difficult to diagnose.

Women generally suffer from it more often than men. In addition, overweight people who often force themselves to follow very strict diets are the most susceptible. Binge eating disorder is much more common than anorexia or bulimia.

  • Someone who suffers from binge eating disorder quickly crams in a large amount of food (binge eating). He eats, even though he isn’t really hungry, until he’s stuffed or feels bad. This behavior is caused by the feeling of fear that this person experiences prior to the binge.

  • Often, especially those who suffer from stress, anxiety or depression are prone to. These feelings are often accompanied by a great dissatisfaction with their bodies and their weight, low self-confidence or other emotional problems.
  • A person who suffers from binge eating disorder usually has abnormal eating habits and their weight fluctuates frequently.
  • He constantly feels that he has to follow very strict diets in order to lose weight. The stricter the diet, the more chaos and the more severe the disorder.
  • If someone exhibits this behavior at least twice a week for more than six months, they could be suffering from binge eating disorder.

How can you help someone who suffers from binge eating disorder?

If you suspect that a friend or family member, or even you yourself, suffer from this disorder, it is best to consult a psychologist or psychiatrist as soon as possible.

He/she could help through individual therapy sessions or group sessions. During these sessions, the right nutrition is examined and psychological intervention is used. In addition, only an expert can determine whether a patient needs medication to control his impulses.

These therapies can thus help to establish normal and healthy eating habits, thus helping to counteract a disorder that can have very undesirable consequences both mentally and physically.
