Celebrated Austrian educator and psychiatrist Rudolf Dreikurs stated that “Routine is to a child what walls are to a house; it gives boundaries and dimensions to his life. No child is comfortable in a situation where they don’t know exactly what to expect. Routine gives a sense of security. An established routine also provides a sense of order from which freedom grows.”
The method Dreikurs developed for understanding and teaching children shows how through helpful behavior we can stimulate children’s abilities without having to punish or reward.
