Electronic devices have become indispensable in modern day-to-day life. Technology as a whole offers many advantages. In fact, it has become such a part of our routine that many of us have a hard time imagining life without it. It saves time and makes almost everything easier. It also helps us do things better. In addition, it prevents us from making mistakes.
Many of these technologies are fairly new. So we’ve only just started studying their effects on humans. There are already some conclusions on this. But the fact is, we still don’t understand exactly how they can affect our health. We also still haven’t figured out whether there’s a chance these devices could cause significant changes to our brains.
We do know that the devices have a major influence. In fact, the general recommendation is that you avoid being too exposed to electronic devices. This means that you should avoid keeping them very close to you for too long. It also means disconnecting from those devices every now and then. Also pay attention to symptoms of health problems. You may begin to notice signs that have no other apparent cause.
Electronic devices and the magnetic field
It has been proven that there is electromagnetic pollution. Electronic devices and appliances both create a magnetic field. Obviously this has an effect on our brains. For example, let’s look at two everyday devices: the television and the computer.
An experiment was carried out in 1987 at the Occupational Health Center in Lodz in Plen. They placed a group of pregnant rats and a group of male rats at a distance of thirty centimeters in front of a television for four hours a day.
The result in the females was that their offspring weighed less and were smaller than normal. In the males, it was found that the weight of their testicles decreased. In both groups, the amount of sodium in the cerebral cortex and hypothalamus had decreased.
People have also conducted several studies related to the use of computers. One study found that pregnant women who work on computers are more likely to miscarry. In general, people who work behind a screen are more likely to show the following symptoms:
- dry mucus
- skin inflammation
- dry eyes
- pimples on the face and open pores
- Red eyes
This all happens because computers create a magnetic field with positive ions. In addition, screens ensure that we blink less often. The ions move through the air. As a result, the user will eventually record them. Devices can cause a person to lose balance, dizziness, nausea and so on.
The solution is that you stay at least about one meter away from the device. This applies to both televisions and computers. When you buy those devices, always look for the models that have a TCO certificate.
Electronic devices and the social world
Social life is probably the part of our lives most changed by electronic devices. The ways we meet, communicate and build new relationships are all very different. And it keeps changing all the time. Almost every year there is a new application or a new application that revolutionizes our daily communication.
One of the most noticeable aspects of these new forms of communication is that they invade life very easily. At any time and in any place. It doesn’t matter where you are or what time it is. There is always the possibility that you will receive a message, a phone call, or an email. It doesn’t matter how unimportant it is.
Today there is actually one rule in our world. We have to pay attention to many stimuli at the same time. It often happens that something is interrupted by messages at several moments. Then you start over with whatever you were doing.
That is when we experience a specific form of exhaustion. For we pay a price when we move our attention from one task to another, and then return and focus on what we were doing.
Likewise, our brains must now be alert to every flickering light, every thing, every vibration. The brain first interprets these signals as a threat or something urgent. You will of course not die or be shocked when you see them. But it does mean that your alarm systems are being stimulated. A little alarm in you goes off. This can very quickly develop into an extra dose of stress in your life.
