Balanced motivation: the best way to learn

Napoleon Hill once said, “Whatever the mind of a man can comprehend and believe, he can also realize.”  How can we do this? Can we use a method to actually succeed in this? Probably not. However, there is one method that can be somewhat useful. We are talking about balanced motivation here.

Balanced motivation means exactly what the term suggests: finding a balance in the things we enjoy.

At times we believe that what really brings us closer to our goals is our ego or the result and not the actual work and process. This thought can cause you to lose balance between what you are currently doing and what you want to accomplish.

These are intended to help children find their true motivation. It also helps them not to be distracted from their goals and from the right path, which is learning.

During this process, it is important that we keep an eye on our motivations so that we always value the experience. This is where we distinguish between two different avenues: one focused on the ego and another focused on hard work.

  • Ego orientation encourages people to improve themselves in function of others. The worth of the person depends on his interpersonal relationships. They always try to impress others by being the best at everything.
  • Orientation on hard work makes people improve themselves for themselves. They then develop their own abilities from a physical to a psychological level.

Both orientations are reconcilable and can exist together. Usually this form develops where they are present together. The journey to the goal and the time are tools that we must invest out of necessity. the two orientations are always more dominant.

The current picture of motivation management

According to the experience of UPAD, the motivation that is focused on the result is currently reinforced rather than the other two. What does this mean? It means that achieving the goal is the most important. Everything that has nothing to do with the goal is then irrelevant.

This will be an investment that we will later classify as a success or a failure. Everything depends on whether or not we have achieved our goal.

However, experts at the UPAD argue that focusing on hard work motivation would be much more positive. How did that happen? The reason is that self-improvement is the real goal in that case.

Focusing on the effort-oriented motivation means that the individual gains more confidence in themselves. It is then okay if the person does not achieve their goal. After all, they acquire something very important and essential, namely self-esteem.

This teaches us something about what really matters in pursuing our goals. It is indeed important that we achieve our objectives. However, there are other remarkable lessons and experiences to consider: persistence, teamwork, constant effort to be better, and hard work.

We can therefore choose to follow this approach and work from a balanced motivation. Even if we don’t reach our goal in the end, we won’t think the journey was a waste of time. Quite the contrary, because we will think it was absolutely worth it.

Today, observation is important to discover a person’s motivational orientation. Once we know what their objectives are, we can reinforce or refocus them. We do this on the condition that something accomplished with the same effort takes on more value.

We can compare this situation with a football match or a match in another sport that you like. Which is better: focusing only on the result or focusing on the execution in order to achieve the objective?

If one focuses only on the result, then that person may think that any method or process makes sense to achieve it. They can choose the right method. However, what happens if they don’t?

If, on the other hand, we focus on how we can achieve our goal, we will probably achieve it. The reason is that experience is accompanied by a learning process. We go through this process when we want to achieve our goals. The experience will teach us lessons we will never forget. We will also feel so much more complete and satisfied.
